Our philosophy
The decision to use a disposable product, and our awareness of how we dispose of it, are rooted in habit. Our habitual actions are small, but each one aggregates to a massive collection of actions across the many individuals in our city. Each cup contributes to a mountain.
By being mindful of how we use and dispose of a paper cup and by taking a moment to consider our decision, we alter our habits in a simple way and effect change at the most critical level — the individual.
We start at the source
The vessel for your delicious beverage of choice begins its journey at the point of purchase — your local cafe. Perhaps you’ll take it to go, and enjoy the ability to sip it as you travel through the world. Or maybe you’ll stay at the cafe, relishing in the sunshine outside while watching the city go by, or sharing stories with a loved one.
Whatever your path, the life of the cup is short-lived. Whether you dispose of it at the cafe or in a city bin on the street, we want to help make sure it gets to the right place!
We try not to judge
The paper cup equals convenience, and we get it — we like our conveniences too. A reusable tumbler can be cumbersome, requiring preparation, transportation, washing and just overall planning. Its freewheeling cousin, the paper cup, is light, effortless and carefree, allowing us to sip our beverage and get on with our day!
Personally, we love our coffee in a ceramic cup or a tumbler whenever possible. But while we advocate for mindfulness in your consumption and in your decision to use a disposable product, sometimes you’ve just gotta use that paper cup. That’s cool. All we ask for is for a moment of consideration in your decision —
Am I disposing of this correctly? And am I actually taking this drink to go? Do I really need to use this disposable cup?
We believe that awareness is contagious
Whatever your level of involvement with recycling, we’ve all been the student or the teacher at some point. And we believe that this is where collectively we can harness the strongest force for spreading awareness — talking to each other.
Help us out and keep the conversation going. Keeping our city, the land and our planet healthy is our greatest shared interest.
